September 27 Our latest thing!!Hi family and friends! So, this is my first ever attempt at keeping some kind of online site or journal or blog, whatever you want to call it. I figured it would be the easiest way to keep everyone in touch, and it has the added bonus of being able to load and share photos and little videos of Kirby! Yay! The biggest plus is that it is the only one of those fan-dangled sites that I can figure out how to use with minimal time spent on a learning curve.
As a starter, I will fill you in on our latest adventure. Kirby and I spent a couple of weeks on vacation with mum and dad. We went up to the Shark Bay area with their caravan. Kirby and I stayed in the annex tent attached to the side of the van. For those of you who don't know, Shark Bay is a World Heritage listed area about 900km's north of Perth and home to the world renowned Monkey Mia where you can feed the wild dolphins. It was a bit of a "let's see what happens" kinda holiday, given Kirby was not quite 4 months old and we had no idea how he would cope with sleeping in a tent! We figured we would be gone for 2 weeks or 2 days, depending on what happened. Of course my boy was a total champion and we were gone just over two weeks!
Being up north in the warmer weather was fantastic after this very wet winter. Kirby has taken instant liking to the beach and was quite mesmerised by sitting in the shallow water on the beach with the waves coming in at him. I was amazed he didn't get frightened. I am convinced he will be a surfer! Or a musician, he LOVES music! He seems to love the feel of wind and spends the majority of the time with his tongue sticking out to get the feel of the breeze. What a weirdo! When we went to Monkey Mia, we were lucky enough to be picked to feed the dolphins. Not everyone gets a go as it is a quite controlled environment as they are wild animals. I was very surprised that they selected a lady with a baby. Don’t you love his cool “Baby Banz” in the photos? It was very glary on the water with all the sun and it made my eyes hurt without sunglasses so I bet his did too!
All in all we had a really great trip and I can’t wait for the summer to roll on and get some time at the beach with him soon! Of course he will be well covered up with lots of sunscreen and under a beach brolly, no chance of any sunburn! I am praying he gets his father’s olive skin for this climate. Too soon to tell yet though.
I also have uploaded some photos from our trip, and some little videos I have taken on my camera in the last couple of months too. He is adorable, but then I am legitimately biased, though that doesn’t make me wrong!
